3-Cig 1497 failed on Lymy branch about 07.00 with serious short on motor circuit. Replacement unit 1498 off Bomo depot @08.20 to Brock. ED will follow about 08.45 to recover 1497 back to depot.

Could be any number of things, have to wait until somebody has had a look at it on the pit

Noticed a 455 on the Windsor and Eton line and I actually worked one down that route for the first time in almost 3 years last Saturday.Wonder if the will be working down there more.

Heard a rumour they are taking the first class out of some desiro's to work down there.

Not worked 458s

FC is being taken out of the Desiros to create the 450/5, note FIVE, at Bournemouth T&RSMD currently. These will be the 450s with the additional car if and when it is ordered.

All 458s have worked since re-introduction from service, though!

Sorry for the slight bump, was told by a driver on the Lymington line that 1497 "disgraced" itself when half of a "traction motor fell off". The driver of 1497 then had to pax to Bomo to pick up an ED to rescue his own train as no other 73 drivers were avaliable.

Motor bearing problem?
A failed bearing would just lock the wheelset.
If half a motor fell off, you'd lucky not to have a derailment.
It's more likely that he meant half the motors went out which is closer to a motor circuit failure.
