Why did I see this unit at Basingstoke yesterday evening?

I dont know a lot about sprinters..It was on the Basingstoke - Reading service.

Surprised it is still around...info please like what class unit normally work that line.Thanks

150001 and 150002 have been acquired by FGW to operate the Basingstoke - Reading stopper. Been going since end of last month. Used to be Class 165s/166s, 165s/166s are normally on duty in the late evenings. Been plenty of threads on here about them, just search for 150001 or 150002.

150001 and 150002 should work all services Monday-Friday until around 2100 on the line. At the moment though turbos still see a lot of use. 150001 failed in service this morning so 166218 and 150002 have been the two units for most of today.

Ah thanks,I guessed they were old units and also looked different to what normally worked on the line.

Surprised it is still around.

Why are you surprised? They aren't the oldest trains still in operation and they are better builds than the slightly newer Pacers, so are expected to be withdrawn after the Pacers.
