    Hi,

I'm getting a 16-25 railcard and it would be nice if I couly get it by Saturday. Is the process quick enough and will it get to me by then, do you think?

    Thanks
    Robert

I doubt you'll get it by Saturday. Mine was about 4 working days before delivery.

    7. How long do I have to wait for my Railcard to arrive?
If you are buying your Railcard online we will despatch it within one working day, and send it free by First Class post. We are dependent on the postal service so please allow FIVE working days for your Railcard to arrive. You won’t be able to collect your Railcard from a rail station.

You can only start travelling on discounted tickets once you have received your Railcard. You cannot use your printed out confirmation of sale to get discount. The Railcard is the only proof of entitlement to discount that rail staff are able to accept.

You can always go to any staffed station and get one immediately. An online one won't get there on time

Mine took ages to be dispatched, think it was about a week and then it arrived the next day.

Yes, the process is very quick. You go to a staffed station with a passport photo and some ID, and they issue it on the spot.

If you were thinking of an online application, bad idea.

I don't think this will apply to you, if you're getting a YP before you're 25 but remember when you do reach it...to buy your renewed Young Person's a day before your 26th birthday and then you can use it when you're 26.

    Hello all by the way!

    Hello there!

If you can buy it the day before your 26th, does this mean you can also buy the three year card as well, therefore using it till your 29? I still get another 5 years of it anyway, so it will probably of changed by the time it comes to me having to worry about no discounts anymore...

No dice there! You have to buy it the day before your 24th birthday

I'm keeping an eye on the calendar although since I'm only turning 23 this year I have another year to go (although Natwest provide me with a railcard for being an Advantage Blue customer)

Although the website has been known to offer the 3 year card to people at 25 ;)

Actually my experience of ordering online was very good. I ordered it Wednesday and it arrived Friday.

    A passport photo of what?

(Genuine question asked to a ticket-office colleague of mine!)

    You get everything these days!

And if you're on guard duty today and tomorrow you'll get everyone on your train with the rugby in Cardiff. 1B37 yesterday was eminently unpleasant and several carriages were lawless.

Should have asked them to take a photo of the front page of their passport and see if they actually did it...
