To satisfy a long held ambition I'm travelling 1st class advance on this service from Aberdeen to London on 20 June.
(I'll have travelled up to Inverness the previous day from Euston via Glasgow & the WC/ Highland ML and will return from Inverness via Aberdeen and the ECML)
How crowded is the train likely to be?
What food can I expect to be offered during the 7.5 hour journey (do I need to 'stock up' with sandwiches etc before boarding)?

I don't know about the passenger numbers, but you should expect to be served between Aberdeen & Edinburgh, Edinburgh & Newcastle/York and lastly between Newcastle/York & London Kings Cross.
