1T40, 10:04 Stafford to London Euston

Apologies if this is already covered elsewhere I did a search but couldn't find it.
I noticed that there is a 1T40 Avanti West Coast service at 10:04 to London Euston, Thursday Only. It returns from London Euston at 12:54 to Stafford. The stocks arrives at Stafford, ecs, as 5G40 from Longsight (09.02). The return arrival at Stafford is 14:42 and then forms 5G42 at 15:01 ecs to Longsight.
Is this a staff training move or something else?

I believe the 1Txx services are used to test the trains after maintenance. There used to be one on Sunday off Longsight although I’m not sure if it still exists.
