I wonder if Mr Roebuck will be counting the reformed 150s (003-006) as on his list of requirements. Should be easy enough to pick off on the Rochdale stoppers
I certainly won't be. I've been on every single one of the trains that make up the reformed trains, and therefore the reformed trains are duds.

My thoughts entirely. There are three Northern 150s I need plus 150002, but nothing that forms these reformed sets.

Even worse about 150003-150006 is if you travelled on the other formations that previously had those unit numbers. Quite inconsiderate of Northern not to number them 150016, 150012, 150017 and 150047 (or similar) (or to use 150103-150106 for these conversions)!

Didn't we have 150012 and 150016 some years back on Central Trains/London Midland? Not quite so sure on 017, which probably was too, but your complaint stands true of those. No doubt plenty of us had 150012 or 016, probably even 017, in the Midlands over the years before they were split back up again. So it could be inconsiderate to us! Not that it is of course!

Same could be argued with FGW using 158961 on those reformed 158s. Wessex Trains had reformed 158s and one of those was 158961. Was it inconsiderate of FGW? Of course not!

Same issue with 150106, that was around for a long time elsewhere. I am out of the loop with that one, didn't FGW use it after London Midland for absolutely ages?

Question is, does it really matter if a number has been used before?!

The moral of the story is: Record the vehicle numbers, not the set numbers.

(Or don't bother coz they're plastic.)

This is an interesting point.

I am wondering whether to keep up my list of train numbers going, sparked by a loss of my 2021 moves and needs list during some issues with my Google account this week. I don't back stuff up regularly, so my notes from last year (and 2019) are still on Docs but I've lost all my 2021 moves. I can re-create last week's moves from photos and texts, but do I really want to make that effort?

Same with re-downloading my 2020 needs list, and going through this thread to update it. Is it really worth the hassle?

It is something to ponder while I'm off work with an injury...

Semi-required I think! Faded orange pen? My default train to work would be the 10:18 Rochdale to Clitheroe (150002 sampled yesterday, 150001 not sampled today as I have a couple of days off) so I'll hopefully pick them up with minimal effort.

Was looking at Northern's 769s a few minutes ago, with the same thought in mind. I've had six of the eight as 319s, so 431 and 448 are "red pen" priorities, whilst the others would be nice as opposed to necessary.

The same applies to the 159/1s in the Tropic of Grateley - had all of them as 158s, apart from whichever one used to be 158800.

And 57/6s - had 601 and 603 as 47s, had the others as 57s so they're cleared.

159 101 is the magic number you require...
Thanks.

Just had a play with RTT, and said unit seems to be having a busy day, running two Exeter to Waterloo round trips and ending up at Salisbury.

Not being so ambitious myself today - a trip to Southport to sample a couple of 458s, down to Liverpool to see if my last four 508s are out to play, then maybe sample a 397 or two...

Another one purely by chance on a day out with the wife... we were visiting Sudbury on a visit planned several days ago, and it just so happened that the branch today was being run by a required unit! :D

Not bad for a last minute decision to head to Manchester instead of North Wales (as I was uncertain if the Conwy Valley line would reopen after being closed on the Friday due to flooding)
