You can hear what I'm talking about in this video:-
Go to 32:39 for the non overhauled 323 and 33:23 for the overhauled unit.
You should be able to hear the whistle and smoother motors on 323222
I can't notice any difference in the video aswell to be honest. I travel on these sets a few times a week, I haven't noticed difference between a overhaul set and non-overhauled set apart from the smoother ride :D

Maybe it's just me then!

Will Doncaster be doing any more 323 work.
Or is it now because 9 have gone. As already mentioned and meant to be.
But it looks like the x2 option for two more isn't happening as the original contract expires December end 2021.
Unless one has been renewed next year 2022.

Remainder of the WMT 323s will be done at longsight, probably costing money on the drags to Doncaster.

I expect the 9 units overhauled at Doncaster will stay the longest with WMT and be the 9 not destined for Northern.

But it's the same work as what will be done at Longsight so how do you work that one out?
Maybe because the units transferring to Northern are now leased to Northern and sub-leased back to WMT, so it's quite possibly Northern's responsibility to arrange the C4 overhauls. Alstom likely have an existing contract with Northern to do C4s on 323223-239, so they have the work for the extra sets as well.

Of those, only 211 is one of the sets going to Northern.

The sets transferring have been leased to Northern since the end of August and sub-leased back, which is why I wrote what I did.
So which ones are staying with WMT and will be going with 211 to northern?

Thought as much. Many thanks for the info.

Bit of a shame pioneer 201 isn't going to Northern but there we are.

323202/203/205-213/217-219/241-243 transfer to Northern, 323201/204/214-216/220-222/240 have no lease beyond WMT.

Wonder if the remaining 323s will transfer after the lostock jct to Wigan north western line is electrified.
Now you're just being sensible!!!

I'm sure I read somewhere that that scheme requires around 9 units? Far too logical...
