The departure boards at Crewe today were showing the 1449 Chester (1310 ex Euston) as a Four Car train.

Can anybody explain what was going on? I thought all Virgin's were 5 car.

There was a set running around with a coach locked OOU due to overheating. Can't remember if it was a 221 or 390 though.

We often have 4 car voyagers down in this neck of the woods especially the 1644 sardine can from Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth/Penzance which get cancelled at Exeter when is a high tide with a stiff breeze

Yes, but that's Cross Country. The entire Virgin Trains fleet, of tilting Super Voyagers, is formed of 5 cars per set (20 sets). Cross Country have 34 4-car Voyagers, 3 4 car Super Voyagers and 24 5 car Super Voyagers (these with tilt disabled)
