Hi all,
I have been looking through the web for sites such as http://www.opentraintimes.com/ that give the train's reporting number with it's times.
Does anyone know of a thread throughout this forum that explains the 4-digit numbers in detail because I have only been able to find explanations on sites such as Wikipedia for the first 2 digits.
According to other sites, the last 2 digits are used to explain local routes or destinations, is this true?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

The last two digits are generally the individual train's number.
For example, on early morning Thameslink services at the weekend (the only examples I can think of off the top of my head ), the first northbound from St Pancras is 2G00, the next 2G02, then 2G04 and so on.
