Prototype HST is running on GCRN on Sun 24th & Mon 25th May. Details and booking info

Why not join us on Sunday, 24th of May 2015 & Monday, 25th of May 2015 for the public launch and first ever Running Weekend of Prototype HST 41001 here at Ruddington.

There will be a special timetable in operation on both days giving something for everyone with 41001 & 56097 on one train with both MKII & MKIII Coaches and fantastic 8F - 8274 on the other with our MKI Coaches.

First Class upgrades will be available on all trains with 41001 but to be part of the historic first service at 10:00am on Sunday 24th you must purchase a special rate advance ticket as seats are limited.

More info, advance tickets & timetables can be found HERE

Indeed, 41001 will run 4 services on the Sunday (10.00; 12.00; 14.00 and 16.00 - the first one is by special ticket only) and three on the Monday (10.00; 12.00 and 14.00). Each is scheduled to be in top/tail mode with resident Class 56 no 56097, with coaches from both the Ruddington air-braked Mark II rake and the 125 Group's newly acquired Mark IIIs.

On Board, there will be a 125 Group sales stand, bottles of the special "Miller's Pride" ale brewed for us by the Shiny Brewing Company of Derby, and light snacks and cold drinks available from the buffet counter. First Class accommodation will be available for a small supplement payable on the train.

Also active on each day will be the Vacuum braked set operated by 8F No 8274, and the other site facilities at Ruddington should all be open and available.

Do come along and see what has been achieved with the NRM's former static exhibit - and hear the famous Paxman Valenta engine in action once more.

Fantastic, though I won't be able to come down. How many coaches will be between the 41 and the 56?

Maybe we'll see you on another occasion alexl92 - would expect there to be 3 x Mark IIIs and 2 x Mark IIs - but subject to availability and change as circumstances require.

What livery are the MK3s in? BR Blue/Grey or Prototype HST grey/blue?

One in former 'ONE' blue, that was then given National Express (East Anglia) signage, the rest in Virgin as withdrawn from West Coast livery from the pictures I have seen.
