On Thursday 24th January 2013, 71000 and support coach will be
moved by rail from the former Eastleigh Works to LNWR Heritage,
Crewe. Whilst at Crewe the condition of the locomotive will be
examined with a view to assessing the scope and the likely cost of
the overhaul. At least three contractors will be invited to give quotes.
Following this, and if deemed to be feasible the 71000 Trust may
operate the locomotive on preserved lines in 2013 until overhaul
arrangements are finalised.

The 71000 Trust wishes to thank all of the Duke's followers,
including the Owners of the locomotive for their patience and kind offers
of help since withdrawal from service in August 2012. Above all, we wish
to express our indebtedness to Arlington Fleet Services, Eastleigh for
their help in stabling the locomotive in recent months.

71000 (Duke of Gloucester) Steam Locomotive Trust / Phoenix Heritage Rail.
