is there any word on when the Crewe workstations will actually open or are they already there. I’m assuming the recruitment campaign is for those workstations
I believe they go live early hours of the morning on 1st Jan .And yes I believe the current external recruitment campaign for G6's in Manchester is for those .

Basically, Annual Leave Allowance (ALA) is the calculation of monetary value of night shift premium paid based on the ordinary rostered night time you have worked in the previous year (January - December). If you didn't work any nights the ALA% would be nil. It does differ depending on how many night turns you have worked the previous year.
Not just nightshift premium. If includes OT payments.

Take the annual nightshift and OT payments 1st Jan to 31st Dec duvide by 52.14 then multiply by 4 and that will give you your top line for the ALA paid in March.

That's the Holiday Pay Supplement (HPS) not the Annual Leave Allowance (ALA)

What is the bank holidays payment? Double time + a day in lieu?
You have a choice of
HROP:Higher rate of pay
LROP:Lower rate of pay

If it is a booked shift then HROP is 250% of basic pay LROP is 150% plus a day in lieu
If it is a RD and you work then HROP is 275% of basic pay LROP is 175% plus a day in lieu
If it is a booked shift you can also be booked off , which means you will just recieve basic pay for that day - this is what happens christmas day for example if your location is closed and will also likely be the case if you are training a location .

If it is a RD and you dont work then HROP is payment of a basic day & LROP is a lieu day .

All lieu days are to be used within 12 months or you recieve payment of a days wage at basic rate for them .

Christmas day / boxing day and 1st janurary in scotland are all different rates .

I applied in July, applied for G2, been advised I will be G4 once passed IST
Good luck mate. I start this coming Monday, with IST towards the end of January here in Scotland. I applied and was thankfully successful for a Grade 9 position. I’m excited to get going, but will start feeling nervous closer to IST I think. Just remember you’ll get what you put into it, so give it absolutely everything.

Thank you. I am very much prepared for the hard work, hopefully it pays off. Good luck

If you're booked annual leave over a bank Holiday (we get assigned weeks), does it simply go down as AL or do you get the lieu day also(I'm on LROP)? Cheers

If you were rostered to work it (i.e. normally it would have been a working day) then you get the day off and are due nothing additional - and it doesn't cost you an annual leave day.

If it would have been a rest day normally then you get one lieu day because you have had a bank holiday off and therefore have missed out on a rest day -again nothing deducted from your leave balance...

Good evening everyone,

I'd like to finally say, I got a job offer yesterday as a Trainee Signaller.

I'm so happy, the wait, perseverance and patience has paid off in the end. Anyone doubting you'll get an offer, just keep trying and it will come.

I was a reserve candidate originally, back in June, got a random call on the 19th December asking if I'm still interested in becoming a signaller and would i be interested in a Motivational Fit Interview. I said yes obviously! Booked in for 31st December at 10.00am. Got the call yesterday around 10.30am offering me the conditional offer.

Thank you to anyone who gave me advice and everyone who posts on here as it has been a massive help.

Good Luck to everyone!!

Is there an age limit overall for signallers? Sorry if I’ve missed this?
So long as you can keep passing the medical then no. The oldest I’ve known to go through signalling school as an external was about 60.

Few people that age want to work the shift pattern, however, so the numbers aren’t high

There is no limit. I did signalling school at 51, alongside a 53 year old.

Shifts get tougher with age, but there’s no obligation to take overtime and the work / life balance is very good which makes up for the shift patterns.

Just noticed a few signaller jobs have gone live (unless I've missed them previously).

G2 Jobs in Penzance, Cornwall, Bristol, Cotswolds and somewhere else.

Good luck to any of you that go for them.

Exeter PSB is a 7, Mid Cornwall Workstation (located in Exeter PSB) is a 5, Crediton, Exmouth Junction and the Branches relief is a 4, (relief is + 24% FP), and Paignton is a 3
