Is there any cheaper way or package to buy for a return ticket from reading to Bath.

The obvious way is to split tickets at Didcot (ie. buy a return from Reading to Didcot and one from Didcot to Bath). You'll need to make sure that any trains you catch actually do stop at Didcot, though.

Without any details on what type of journey you are looking at, it is very difficult to advise.

Please have a look at this thread, which should tell you what details you should ideally provide in order for us to give you more specific advice.

Thanks all.

I plan to have a day trip to Bath, let say depart around 9-10 in the morning and back to Reading before 12a.m

I dont have a railcard at the moment.

I think the split at Didcot as suggested above is likely to be your best bet.

This means that you buy a Reading - Didcot Parkway Off-Peak Day Return (£6 - valid after 0900 weekdays and any time weekends), and a Didcot Parkway - Bath Off-Peak Day Return (£18 - valid after 0915 weekdays and any time weekends) for a total of £24. This compares favourably with a Reading - Bath return of £42. You can buy both tickets in one go at the ticket office at Reading (not from the machines).

Your train must stop at Didcot where you switch from one ticket to the other, which is roughly half of the trains, otherwise you will be liable for an excess fare. Make sure you check before boarding. You can remain on the same train from Reading to Bath as long as it stops at Didcot.

Prices will increase a little on 2nd January.

You are still missing important information, such as when you are planning this trip for and what you have found so far that you found too expensive?
