Ohh! Thanks for that! A Streak at Crewe, just down the line from me and at a civilised time of day. I shall go have a look!

Is Crewe HC open to vistors on that day?

Not too sure if the Heritage Center is open. I think it may only be weekends.

I nipped down to Crewe today to see the Streak...

DSC04114res.jpg

Here she is reversing out of the station, drain cocks open after a long stand in Crewe station, heading for the Chester line. A few minutes later she was back in the station, this time on a platform road.

I went for a late lunch and when I returned she was still in the platform! By now she was well behind schedule. Eventually I left on a 323 for home; Bittern still hadn't moved!

Anyone know what the delay was?

Why was the A4 used as a tow truck like this? Why couldn't the K4 make its own way to Barrow Hill?

Nice blog biggyn. I was further down the line at Langley along with others and was told in no uncertain terms it was against the law to take photos of trains by some nasty jobsworth who was shouting and flapping his arms. This man was so so shabbily dressed in some ill fitting jacket and grey jeans. Is this Network Rail's representative who provides tickets and other passenger information?

Thanks crewmeal, much appreciated :)

In regards that man shouting at you for taking photos of trains, that is completely out of order. This document was brought to my attention a short while back: Guidelines for Rail Enthusiasts. I quote from the 'General' section of this document:

You may very occasionally be asked by station staff to move to another part of the station or to leave the station altogether. Station staff should be happy to explain why this is necessary and if you are travelling on by train they may advise you to remain in the normal waiting areas with other passengers. If this occurs, please do so with goodwill as staff have many things to consider including the safety and security of all passengers and are authorised to use judgement in this regard.

Now that seems reasonable, provided that the member of staff calmly tells you why they wish you to move on and not take photographs, but just shouting at you for no reason is diabolical, and he's more in the wrong than you are. Next time you go down there to take photos, provided you haven't been put off going there by this incident, I recommend you print off the complete document and show it to any member of staff who should challenge your being there, and if the problem persists, perhaps reporting them to London Midland would be the best idea.

Hope this is of help to you, I hate injustice being dealt to us enthusiasts, and I'm sure many, if not all, of the members of this forum agree.

Cheers

Thanks Nyall - I couldn't have put it better myself. The strange thing is I've taken shots there before without any problem at all. The station staff put themselves out to help spotters and advise on timings. I can only suggest that they've had a change of staff to someone who is anti train spotters.
