good morning, thank you for some very useful comments re ABD to PNZ, ive booked for Wednesday 23rd in first class. All hints on provisions , toilets, seating etc all welcome. Thank you re using loo before Leeds, qualifying for snr card this is important :) . Im currently looking for late closing or early opening shops near ABD station for provisions, . Suggestions welcome. Similarly for prior to 0840 departure PNZ to Chester (viaBham ) next day - though i like a bacon roll, a few alternatives may be welcome. thanks
There's a Sainsbury's Local near Aberdeen station as well as a Greggs in the shopping centre which will be open before 1V60 departs. Just be aware that if you want any alcohol for the journey you will need to buy it before 10PM the night before due to Scottish licencing laws.

The first class catering comprises of bacon rolls and pizza twists when it comes to hot food, you will get sick of both, trust me!

Suspect Premier Inn might be your best bet for breakfast the next morning in Penzance.

There's also the Wetherspoons a little bit into town. Obviously not the finest establishment, but often a good-enough breakfast can be had.

True, but I was noting the mention of a train at 08:40.

Could be pushing it given 'Spoons will only open at 08:00.

Though that being said, that particular Wetherspoons served me by far and away the worst 'Spoons breakfast I've ever had. Just what I wanted after a pretty much entirely sleepless night in the seats on the Night Riviera!

ooo thanks for the tip re buying alcohol in Scotland - i think a visit to the Aberdeen coop or tesco extra in the evening before 0820 departure may be on the cards. yes i need to check re early breaki at the mercure hotel.
i think breaki is included in Hotel Penzance - but i need to check its start.
thanks maybe more questions later

Thanks re the Sainsburys Local ABD- i'll probably use that on the Tuesday before the epic southbound journey PNZ ABD Wednesday next week (emergency snacks for evening)

as im travelling Tuesday next first class Avanti west coast Warrington to Edinbro across lunchtime - i'd anticipate decent food ??
At 1430 - 1700 im on LNER from Edinbro to ABD- im not sure if any food offerings.

The Penznance back to Chester leg, Thursday - - longest leg is X Country again First to Bham - so i'll try and stock up from Tesco extra to supplement pizza twist & bacon roll.

Me too! Also staying in Aberdeen the night before, and in Penzance the night after, but returning via GWR, to sample the Pullman Dining between Plymouth and Paddington. A bit disappointed with the current Pullman Dining menu, but no doubt it’ll be a considerable improvement on the ABD-PNZ menu!

I stayed in the Longboat Inn, across the road from the station, very convenient!

We stayed there too. Our arrival was very delayed so I phoned the hotel and they left our key in a box in the wall of the hotel, which was a great help as otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get in once the bar staff had gone home. Nice room too, basic but comfortable. We liked it so much we booked to go back a few weeks later and it didn't disappoint.
