Anyone know if it's temporarily down, or has it gone permanently like the other (similar) site did (Can't remember the name).

It is the last online site (as far as I know) that displays all the formations of units etc

Just thank goodness that we haven't run out of coffee, and read the DM :)

It seems to be going up and down quite a lot recently. I suspect/hope it'll be back :)

How to get all the unit numbers now? I know Scot-rail.co.uk has unit formations currently operated by Scotrail, plus Class 220, 221 and 390 formations as well albeit not up-to-date. It's not just the same without AbRail :(

Just showing the web host's page. Could be that the owner needs to renew the domain. Rail3D was the other site that has since vanished.

According to another Forum, owner has been contacted and should be up and running again by August 1st

I don't know the owner of the site, but if they see this and need some webspace for a mirror if theirs is being temperamental, drop me a DM.

AbRail will continue to operate. It had some problems when the owner's joint hosting of the Engine Shed Society site finished, but that particular problem is over now, thanks.

Has anyone any further news on the AbRail site - it still hasn't been updated - last update is shown as w/e 24th November 2018

Thanks in advance

Oh, that would explain why I was getting so confused with the TPE LHCS which is incorrect on there.

Have the owners just given up on it then?

I noticed this earlier too.

It was my 'go to' site for stock formations and, poor me, I had to get up and walk five feet to consult my abc rail guide instead. :'(

Does anyone know of similar ?

I was just thinking "is there a database of rolling stock for the UK" and found this thread - was this website the only (publicly accessible) one of its type?

There isn't yet, but I'm working on one. I'm starting with 1975 - 2018 (up to 1981 at the mo). The current year, which will probably be 2020 by the time I get there, will only show Loco/Unit number, sector and depot as I believe we really should support the good work of Platform 5/Ian Allen et al in bringing us a superb detailed publication every year, though the lack of an app version is frustrating. the historical data will be a useful resource for entry into service, livery changes, refurb dates, allocations on a yearly basis, but I intend to ensure that I don't compromise the painstaking work done by the likes of Hugh Longworth, Ashley Butlin and many others with their more specialist publications.

I'm still working out which outlet, forum, organisation or website I'll publish my work through (I've had interest from a couple of organisations) but will update you all here when it's getting close to release. I have to work around a hectic job and a painful disability so progress is somewhat unpredictable.

I would also be happy if someone else decided to make an up-to-date database, given the amount of work involved in ensuring it is current and correct. My main passion is the past.
