Where can I get a train sim like OpenBVE for free with British maps? I've had no luck yet and could do with a few links! (I'm new to this, don't patronize me)

Simsig is also free but is the signalling aspect of it. It is pretty much like working in an IECC and you have to route set etc, so you don't actually see the trains. I have played it a few times...it can be a bit interesting when you have 5 drivers "calling" you as they are stuck at red signals!
BVE download link is now all I need if it's free.
who was your dad.i worked at sy. and was a seagull. My dad plays a lot of Simsig, and when he's in contol, 5 drivers 'calling' is nothing! Saltley was extremely difficult, I think he ended up with trains 5/6 hours late on th Dorridge services.
Whenever I'm on a train in real life that's running late , we always joke that he must be the one in the signal box!

But to the OP, get Railworks. Pity you hadn't have said about it last week, as for 24 hours it was available on steam for a fiver, although I'm sure it's not too steep on Amazon, was only £10 when I got my copy
