Hi all,

This might be a bit of a shot in the dark however I've decided to start this thread as a request for any information that other forum users may have about the railway lamp I purchased at the weekend.

image.jpg

It has the words Adlake Non Sweating Lamp on the top and burns on paraffin which is filled into a tank beneath the wick.

If anybody has any further information about this type of lamp or knows of any of it's uses throughout the British Railway's then please add to the thread.

Thank you.

It's a signal lamp widely used for semaphore signals. We have a very similar one at St Albans South signal box.

It's really nice. I acquired an old oil lit tail lamp in the 80s when they went over to the flashing electric ones. I repainted it and put an electric lamp in it but unfortunately my mum threw it away.
Do you mind me asking what sort of price this was?
