If say I am booked Doncaster to Kings Cross and the train coming from Edinburgh that I am booked on with an AP ticket is at least 45 minutes late ... It should leave Doncaster at 1652, but say its still 45 minutes late at 1640, can I take the 1645 departure and my ticket be ok??

If not, HOW delayed must my train be, to be able to get another departure. I.E. an hour, two hours etc??

Also if it is cancelled can you use any other service, i.e. the previous departure/next departure etc.

Thanks

If the train you purchased a ticket for is cancelled or delayed by more than 60 minutes, special arrangements will be made to accommodate you on another train (although a seat cannot be guaranteed)

That should answer your queries :)

To expand on the previous reply, although the delay to the booked service will be 60 minutes or more in order to trigger the right to be carried on another service, passengers will not be required to wait for that 60 minutes.

The intention is that a booked service which (in your case, leaving Edinburgh) is clearly going to be 60 minutes late by the time it reaches Doncaster will trigger the right to be conveyed on an alternative service, possibly even on a service which leaves before the scheduled departure of your booked train.

As ever, ask station staff for authority to travel on an alternative service.

Good advice. It isn't for myself I was asking, it was for a friend travelling to London who is in this situation today. As it happens there train has been cancelled, I advised them to get the nearest Ex-Leeds train which will run fine, hopefully!
