    Hi All,

After Training with First to get a PCV License, how soon after qualifying can you leave the job if you have to? And if you leave before this period, what is the cost of doing so?

Same question as above, but with McGill's too, if anyone knows?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Thanks for that. Quite a lot to pay back if I have to move away.

I know people who have left and haven’t paid anything back so I’m not sure if they actually come after you for it or not

Interesting, wonder if the circumstances matter.

Or can you just try and get sacked haha

You'd still have to pay it back. Don't forget that you could then apply for a job as a PCV driver, which might be at a higher rate

I know someone who claims he was dismissed by Arriva and they asked for the training money. He never paid up.

A lot of people take the bus operators for a ride in this sense and it costs them a fortune, but not a lot can be done to stop it - perhaps what is required is a more complex and reliable method of predicting who intends to leave as soon as they qualify.

I very much doubt they’d pursue this money as it would be very time consuming and probably not worth their hassle in the longrun. Most companies use these terms as a deterrent more than anything.

Yes they very much will chase you for it. I had countless texts from a collection agency. I even spoke to rmt at the time who said to ignore it. Then an official court summons came through the door and I had to respond. Managed to cap 400 quid off the bill they were changing me by settling it over the phone as soon as that letter arrived

Thanks very much to everyone for the replies.

Does anyone happen to know the answers to the same questions, though this time with Stagecoach?

Thanks again, I know it's not a Rail Career Query, but I don't think it fits in the other areas.
