Anyone know what the continuing problem with the ECML is at Berwick On Tweed? I know it's OHLE but what exactly?

1S27 91031 pulled down the wires.

Congratulations to 91031!

Isn't it due to the spacing between Poles its something like 30 metres instead of 25 metres, the spacing on the WCML?

Yes, poles too far apart, and of lesser quality.

Also on 3/4 track sections (although not applicable in this case) the newer, cheap and nasty style to have flimsy cables instead of proper gantries mean that if one line has a problem then it is likely to affect all lines.

The WCML electrification was done properly, has lasted years and will last many more years, ECML was done on the cheap :( You can blame the then Tory ( :evil1:) government for refusing to fund it and forcing BR to fund it entirely out of their own funds.
