Do any TOCs use custom scenarios to train their drivers?

TOCs would't use TS2015, they would use specialist software and hardware developed for industry, but they will have customised scenarios within this software for training purposes, eg challenging weather conditions, degraded working etc

Certainly not for anything of a safety critical nature, that is reserved for bespoke high cost machines, and rightly so.

Some TOC's have and still use the program in an initial classroom environment.

One TOC does use Train Simulator, I believe it's ScotRail?

Not sure if they still do, but ScotRail and Transport Scotland commissioned the GARL route and Class 380 to be created for Railworks to aid driver training. When the Scottish Government cancelled the GARL project, the publisher Totalize Media adapted it for 'consumer use'.

    Hi Darandio

Is train simulator 2015 quite realistic from a control point of view? never used any train simulator software but i am quite tempted especially once i seen some of the extra routes available from your footer link.

I've always felt BVE feels more realistic than train simulator.

I wouldnt trust it for route learning. Just had a look at the FGW route video and some old signals are not where they are ment to be in RL.

To be fair, you are looking at a route created nearly a decade ago, things have moved on and it shouldn't be used for real life route learning, but the videos mentioned in the OP are not meant to replicate real life, only to help those using the program for it's intended purpose, as a leisure activity.

However, for the stuff that is used in a classroom environment that I mentioned above, bespoke routes are used, created specifically for that purpose.

I was just answering the OP's question in regards to "accuracy of the videos" I have never played on any train sim apart from the one my FOC supplied and even then it wasnt a route i was going to sign so again unsure of accuracy.

I wanted to check anyway to just see how detailed the route was out of my own interest etc. I thought i would test the sim for a signal at Southall where its wrong sided and wasnt in the video. Thats all. Despite my critical eye comparing from RL, its pretty good graphics for a very old engine of tech.

I looked at the Southeastern Vic > Kent house. It wasn't accurate.

I discovered this channel a few weeks ago and have been working through his videos in my spare time. Whilst I wouldn't trust them for real life route learning, they are amazing if you want to learn the route as represented in TS.
He has stated in one of his videos that the intention is to help people gain more immersion and realism from TS by driving without the HUD.
I have to say that I am doing that more and more by making notes and following his instructions.

Just had a look at some of his videos.

Erratic driving style. Although it's worth remembering it is only a simulator.
