Good morning, all being well I may have day free in Amsterdam soon and was thinking about taking a train from Ams Centraal to the Hague Centraal & Return for which I presume it would be easy just to get a day return on NS at the Station. ?

Then from the Hague I was thinking of getting a tram to the Model Village and then onto the Coast, from memory, I think there are one or two trams, can't remember which numbers, that stop at the Hague Centraal Station, calling at the Model Village before continuing to the Coast. Can one buy a ticket or tickets that would cover this from the tram driver or is there a ticket office at the station?

There is an offer here that includes return travel from any Dutch station to Den Haag Centraal, return tram tickets and entrance for €34. Probably a small cash saving but convenient in getting the tickets all at once.

As the advertising blurb says '... Or grab tram 9 to Scheveningen Beach ...' the tram tickets may even be in effect a day card, but this isn't absolutely clear. If not a day card on top for extra journeys would be €6.50 in cash from a tram driver.

Amsterdam Centraal - Den Haag Centraal is 11,50 € one way.

HTM (Den Haag) for all local travel in trams and busses is 6,50 €. Picture below:

There is also a daycard for the whole of Zuid Holland (no trains). And some exceptions. Than you only need a trainticket to Leiden. Also valid in Rotterdam. If i was you, than first train south and last north.

When you buy from the machines at Amsterdam Centraal you can either:
- buy a smartcard (OV-Chipkaart) which costs 7.50 €. You have to have at least 20 € credit on it to start a journey.
- buy paper tickets which cost 1 € each. You can buy a single or a day return (twice the single fare) but you can only buy one ticket at a time.
In both cases you have to touch in at the start and out at the end of the journey whether or not you pass through barriers or not.

You can pay with coins, a Dutch bank card or a credit card (which can be from another country). If you pay with the credit card there is a 0.50 € surcharge.

The machines are easy to use and there are lots of them.
