This is what my suggestion for the dundee to aberdeen line in the next few years:
Keep the aberdeen to edinburgh services departing aberdeen at xx.00 and Edinburgh at xx.30 calling at stonehaven, montrose, arbroath, dundee, leuchars and haymarket with peak services calling at portlethen, laurencekirk, carnoustie, monifeith, broughty ferry and kirkcaldy with every 2 hours to inverurie. (Departing dundee at xx.15 south and xx.30ish north)
Keep the aberdeen to Glasgow services departing aberdeen at xx.30 and Glasgow at xx.40 calling at the sames stops as the Edinburgh services and calling at Perth and stirling with peak services at dunblane and gleneagles and the stops between aberdeen and dundee. (Departing dundee xx.00 north and xx.45 south)
Close golf street, Barry links, balmossie, invergrowie and Springfield due to low passenger numbers.
Keep the xx.00 Edinburgh to dundee services, departing dundee at approximate xx.30ish south.
Keep the xx.35 Edinburgh to Perth services but every 2 hours extended to inverness, with southbound services departing at Perth at xx.00.
Keep the xx.11 Glasgow to inverness/dundee but extend the dundee services to arbroath by means of a 3rd platform at arbroath along with sidings to stable trains at arbroath releasing trains stabling at stirling, Perth and dundee but how many though? Not sure how the path for this train between dundee and arbroath will work though?
The cross country services will take over the xx.00 Edinburgh to dundee path when they run along with east coast on the xx.30 path
While the freight services to aberdeen will remain unchanged.
