Hi Guys,

How much would it be to upgrade the return portion of an off peak return from Bridlington to London Kings X on the 11th May on the 1850 Hull Trains service? For one adult and one child with no railcard?

Travel on the return portion of a Bridlington-London terminals saver (priced at £145.20 adult, £72.60 child), is allowed on the 18:50 from Kings Cross anyway. The restriction is as follows:
JOURNEYS TO/VIA LONDON
(including Stevenage).
Available as listed below
MONDAYS-FRIDAYS. (By any train
on other days).

Outward Travel:-
Valid on any train timed to
arrive at London Terminals
1020 or later.*

Return Travel:-
Valid on any train from London
Terminals except those timed
to depart between 0645-0815
inclusive (but allowed on 0712
Stevenage - Peterborough FCC
service)

Incedentally, as it stands you will be paying £217.80. With a family railcard, you would only pay £123.45, and the railcard only costs £24.

If you mean to upgrade to First Class for one direction only, then my calculation is:
Cheapest walk-on First Class fare = Adult First Anytime Return £357 + Child First Anytime Return £178.50. Total = £535.50
Minus fares already paid: Adult Off Peak Return £145.20 + Child Off Peak Return £72.60. Total = £217.80
The balance is £317.70, which is the cost to upgrade in both directions.
In one direction, it's half this, which is £158.85
