I know him well, and have been coming across him for six or seven years now. He is a dishonest, fraudulent pest. Don't let the "Aspergers" tag fool you, he is a very calculating (and convincing) conman.

Not sure if this would be seen as humiliating by genuine victims of "Aspergers", but perhaps it would be beneficial to all if all genuine sufferers could be issued a card by their medical practitioner or clinic confirming their condition and including their basic details and photo.
I say this because I have seen on a general forum that in the US, a minority of young people new to the workplace have begun using the "Aspergers" excuse for all sorts of bizarre behavior after realizing that an adult workplace is actually a serious environment and not as much "fun" as they imagined it would be. It seems to be a bizarre fashion among young people in the US to claim to be either bipolar or to have Aspergers to make themselves appear somehow special.
I had no idea that people over here were doing the same thing.

Call me thick but I can't find what financial gain he's getting from this since he blows all his "income" on train tickets to just ride up and down? Even with benefits and Delay Repay it won't really live up to his Armani life style. Unless he's stored it abroad for a later date he's just a potless loon with a few clapped out coaches.

It does help to explain his behaviour and may be reflected in the punishment.

But yes at the end of the day he is still a convicted criminal and no amount of playing the disability.card can detract from that.

This guy certainly does have specialist railway knowledge - how many people knew that tickets of that value could be purchased with a company cheque with no guarantee card? Presumably by setting up more than one 'business' account he could repeat the scam many times before getting caught. I'm glad to hear that such cheques are no longer accepted on-train.

I'm not sure, I've been able to tell a convincing enough story for various reasons in the past. Mostly came from studying drama at school, then writing books. Thing is, it's not the ability to do something, its how you use that ability. Conscience and integrity have nothing to do with AS.

He knows enough to fool the unwary. He gives the impression of being rail staff, talks knowledgeably about diagram numbers, throws in headcodes, name-drops other rail staff to beat the band, and will ask to buy tickets giving the code-numbers (which most rail staff won't know). He'll then produce a credit card that "has to be swiped" due to some obscure fault.

I've never dealt with him personally, but reading your description, I'm sure I've heard him being discussed by people who have...

I found this site whilst googling Peter Young. I do that at times to see what else he is up to. I see he has been caught defrauding the railway. That doesn't surprise me in the least. I also see that he was to be jailed on April 2nd. Well, he is still around. Seems the judge has believed his lies.
I know this fraudster so well and wonder how he can still be walking around (albeit on his fake crutches or having a wee slip of a girl push his enormous bulk in a wheelchair). I would be interested to know how he has got off with been sentenced.

I hope other people do too - he may be able to get away with this when staff don't know his back-story, but if people are aware of these fraudsters then hopefully it'll make it harder to get away with what he does.

Just one word of warning and that is to be very careul in your treatment of him. He will happily see you sacked if you dare cross him, he takes no prisoners.
I was amused when I read that he takes an enormous amount of time to come down a ramp, he is testing your patience, that is the power he thinks he has over you. He sues people at the drop of a hat, if he thinks there will be a big payout at the end of the day and doesn't care who he hurts in the process. He has cost me a lot of money.

That is one reason why all the drivers keep an eye out for him and alert over the company radio if they spot him.

Some drivers would like to avoid picking him up sadly as I have already said to some I garauntee you do and he will be on the telphone to the head office complaining and then in the local paper and we can all guess what he will be saying.

I can't remember where now, but I think that actually happened on another forum once. Don't whether he was the real deal or not though.

People like this should be given lifetime bans. After they have served their rather hefty prison terms. I have been on the receiving end before over false accusations made against me by a member of the public. Admittedly only minor and it could be easily proven it didn't happen but it still causes a lot of grief to you. I dread to think what it would be like to be falsely accussed of something serious when you know it's a pack of lies.

Stealing is one thing but to actually cost people their jobs, livelihoods and the damage that could cause to them is utterly disgraceful (well they are both as bad as each other really but hopefully you can see my point).

He doesn't have aspergers. He is simply an attention seaker. With regards to him reading these posts, just don't say anything that he may associate you with. That is the reason I am not going into any details, which would make your hair curl, then he could identify me. All I will say is, and this could come from anyone, that he is a thorn in the side of the police, fire and ambulance services. He even had a helicopter out one time looking for a ficticious man drowning!

...Peter Young, owner of coach company UK Express Coaches (Scotland), hopes to solve the problem by putting on an entire fleet of coaches.

Mr Young, 28, is working with Bridgend-based independent coach operator AP Travel to operate up to 20 coaches out of the capital.
The coaches, which will run east to Lydney, via Newport, Chepstow and Caldicot, and west to Bridgend, will leave after the game from Fitzhamon Embankment at 10.45pm.

“I have been listening to the radio all week and people are clearly worried how they are going to get home,” said Mr Young, who is originally from Newport.

My Young, who has suffered from Aspergers syndrome since childhood, said he would also arrange for coaches to carry passengers to the Valleys as well as to Port Talbot, Neath and Swansea if there is enough demand.

UK Express Coaches (Scotland), which typically runs coaches from Bridgend to London, via Newport and Chepstow, was set up as Mr Young set out to prove that his Aspergers could not prevent him from being successful.

“Because of my Aspergers I cannot cope with people being left stranded.

“I’m very OCD when it comes to transport, I love coaches and I also love maps and numbers,” he said.

It would appear he has been playing the Aspergers (sic?) card for a while. It would seem that as people have already said, this is more of an excuse for his behavior than anything else.
From what my research into this man has uncovered, he seems to be a very calulating man, with a wealth of knowlege of public transport as a whole, not just the railways.
People like him really get my back up, because he is giving aspergers sufferers a bad name an Ivo said, and also places suspition onto people who are physically disabled.

People have also indicated that he may be reading, would it be an over reaction to think that if he doesent like what he sees he may try to take some kind of legal action against the forum? As has been said he is the kind of man to sue at the drop of a hat.
