The Dutch are often perceived by foreigners to be overly blunt and they aren't afraid to give criticism. The good thing about this is that you always know what they really think, instead of having to read between the lines. It gets things out in the open and leads to a quicker resolution instead of what typically happens in Britain and other English speaking countries where problems just don't get mentioned out of a fear of offending others, until things get so bad they are much harder to resolve. This also manifests in the Dutch appearing to complain all the time. The Dutch deep down know that they are onto a good thing, but they always want things to be better. This can be observed with their obsession with cleaning and neatness and their desire for things to be in perfect geometrical shapes.

What you have to realise when reading through these posts is that politics in NL can get very viscious, with many MPs having it in for NS management for numerous problems over the years occasionally justified but mostly not. Actually, NS runs one of the best services in Europe IMHO and deserves much more support by from its customers and Ministry that it seems to get!

A company that for 8 years doesn't deliver what has been agreed and is protected from any competition should be privatised as it clearly demonstrates that it doesn't give a damn about passengers and agreements.

What happened to the SNCB/NMBS Benelux locos. I thought they were in store. Obviously not available to use on that IC service (?)

If you mean the HLE 11s: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/NMBS_1190.jpg/1280px-NMBS_1190.jpg

They've been in store since the end of 2012. They were replaced on the Benelux IC because they were too unreliable, and moved on to NMBS peak services for a few years until being withdrawn altogether. So I'd guess they continue to use the hired-in TRAXXs because they're more reliable.

what would be the point. it would be privatization of it for the sake of it, and more then likely nothing would really change.

I am not so sure about all that is said above. Privatization as the new miracle cure to solve all problems. It is AnsaldoBreda that provided a below standard train where all parties are to blaim for. The dutch/belgiums wanted as quickly to enter the V250 in service, because they had scraped the Benelux-train. Testing; what testing. Testing 1 train is enough. And with the high ticketprices 1 could say it is on the level of Thalystickets. Why than travel on the V250?
