A family member was sexually assaulted at East Croydon, I am posting the public BTP details here in the hope her attacker is caught. Please move this post if it is in the wrong section.

Do you recognise this man?

Officers investigating a prolonged sexual assault on a service travelling from Sanderstead to East Croydon are today releasing CCTV images in connection.

At 1.45pm on Thursday 27 January a man approached a woman on the train asking for directions. As she spoke to him, the man offered his drink to her as a gift and she refused it. He then took a sip from it before offering it to her again.

As the woman went to get off the train at East Croydon station, he sexually assaulted her.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.

If you recognise him, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 322 of 27/01/22.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

What annoys me is train crew don't see these pictures so we can keep an eye out for the scum.

Aren’t all those services down there Driver Only?
Sorry, but drivers do notice passengers. Many of us travel passenger to from work, in the course of our duties. Wait for trains at stations where passengers walk past, talk to colleagues on the concourse where passengers are. Driving into stations with very few passengers waiting we do spot people and recognise regulars.

Absolutely. These images should be distributed to all train crew and staff. Why aren't they?

Croydon is Croydon - it has more than its fair share of shady characters. It’s not uncommon to see assaults in the vicinity of the station. A friend from north of the river was alarmed when there was a stampede in the station during disruption a few weeks ago. I failed to warn him that some people can have no manners at all.

Sorry to hear of this incident - I hope the perpetrator is caught and brought to justice.

Absolute dump. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60359420
A woman had hair torn from her scalp in a racially aggravated attack, police said.
The 31-year-old told officers she was getting off a bus when the assault took place near East Croydon railway station in south London at about 18:45 GMT on 18 December.

I think the best thing to do here is that if anyone does have any information on this they contact one of us via pm or the report function, or they contact the police directly.
We’ll lock the thread now but leave it in place.
Thanks everyone.
