I was watching the above video on YouTube, a couple of questions.
When the train arrived at Woodburn Junction the driver seemed to be a bit confused as to what the letter 'W' on the signal post indicated. At first he thought it indicated 'down Worksop' which clearly it was not, anybody know what the letter 'W' was indicating?
In the direction the train was travelling would I be right in thinking that Tinsley North junction would take the train into Tinsley marshalling yards from Rotherham and that Tinsley South junction would bring trains out of the marshalling yards heading towards Sheffield?
Are there any working tracks left in Tinsley marshalling yards? Would it be theoretically possible to run xcountry trains through Rotherham to Chesterfield via the marshalling yards avoiding Sheffield Midland all together? In the other direction would it be possible to run passenger trains from Chesterfield to Sheffield through the marshalling yards via Woodburn Junction avoiding Woodhouse station, has this ever happened?
I am not asking to run new routes around Sheffield was just interested to know what if anything is left of the marshalling yards, thanks.
