Are the pacers still out and about on the Devon Metro? Would like to grab one last ride between Christmas and New Year.

They’re now expected to be retained to mid 2020 due to delays to the castle sets and 769s. But like PHILIPE says, they now have to be coupled up to a 150 or 158 because of the PRM ruling which comes into force on January 1st.

Yesterday there was a double 143 set on the Exmouth to Paignton route, 143612 + 143618 was the set but like said above, from tomorrow they will have to be attached to a 150 or 158 due to the new law.

If you've missed out on doing the class 143's, then South and West Yorkshire will be your next best bet with the similar looking class 144's (of which 014 - 023 being the three car variants), the 144's mostly operate out of Sheffield.

I’ve used the Class 143s many times, was considering a trip down to Exeter though!

143s are still operating down here but not on their own or in pairs anymore so you can still catch a ride on one :)

However 143603 is out of service is out of service due to the incident last week...
