Hi all. I just have two questions.

Firstly are there any buses still left in the original Arriva livery? If so which ones are these and where are they based? If not then when was the final one repainted?

Note i am talking about the first Arriva livery as seen in this photo here - https://flic.kr/p/9zExrU - or this photo here - https://flic.kr/p/9AuNpb - for example. I am aware that there are still a very large amount of vehicles in the second Arriva livery that still haven't been repainted in to the third and current Arriva livery.

Secondly are there any buses still left in the original First livery? If so which ones are these and where are they based? If not then when was the final one repainted?

Note i am talking about the First livery as seen in this photo here - https://flic.kr/p/iuhQ1X - or this photo here - https://flic.kr/p/n28n1J - for example. I think this is actually their second livery but i am aware that all buses were repainted out of their first livery years ago.

Also note that i am only talking about buses that are still in service with Arriva and First at the moment. So any preserved buses do not count.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

There are still plenty in the original First “Barbie” livery. There are about 40 with FWoE consisting of Darts, Solos, Eclipses and B7TLs. Kernow also have a number of Darts (due for imminent replacement) and a lot of Tridents.

Still plenty of original Arriva in the North East.

Theres still a few barbies in GM i think, a couple of Solos and Pointer Darts out of Oldham depot (unless they've been binned off with the recent reallocations from the closure of Rusholme).

I'm pretty sure Arriva still have a fair few original livery vehicles in Bolton too.

At home or at the pub
33404 is actually the one painted in 1930's BMMO tribute livery

It's quite nice https://www.flickr.com/photos/kk70088/28148305949/

Nice to see heritage liveries now & again, Stagecoach had a trident in the darker Red[Cherry i think] Ribble livery, quite weird seeing it still in heritage livery well after it transferred to Birkenhead, Ribble didn't operate that side of the River, was Crosville territory

Only Barbie in GM are the handful of Solos at Oldham, everything else is in the newer livery.

Arriva only have 2517/2596 at Bolton in the original livery too.

First Cymru has Port Talbot-based Darts 42905 and 42907, and Swansea Ravenhill based Solo 53063 still in 'Barbie' colours.

Many thanks for the info. I didn't realise there were so many buses still painted in the older Arriva and First liveries. I would quite like to get a photo of buses wearing all three Arriva liveries in one photo. Has anyone managed this yet? Where do you think would be the best place to attempt this?

Indeed, to further that question, how many 'standard' liveries do Arriva have? Max, Saphire, interurban, cow-horns and combinations of the lot.

Go to Hertfordshire and WGC or Stevenage and you will find more in old livery than the new.

Arriva in Kent might be a good location to find most variants:
Original Corporate livery is still carried by 1608 (GN04UCY) based at Northfleet.
Interurban/Cow Horns livery is still very prevalent all over.
New Corporate livery has appeared on recent deliveries at Maidstone and Gillingham.

Old Sapphire may still be carried by some E400's at Northfleet.
New Sapphire will be on the new Streelites delivered to Northfleet.

And for what it's worth, I understand the Max brand has been discontinued.

Out of the handful of B10s that First SY still have, one or two are still painted in the Barbie livery.

Moving over to Manchester, the Solos that work the 353/354 runs from Ashton to Uppermill still hold the original livery.

A lot of the Plaxton Presidents that First still use have that livery aswell - Sheffield did have some, often found on the 97/98 to Totley, or the 75/76 to Shiregreen.

Standard liveries:
  • Cotswold Stone & Aquamarine - 1997/8 until 2009
  • Interurban - 2009 until 2016/7
  • "Journey Mark" Standard - 2017 (with 2010s logo), 2017-current with new logo.
Premium/special liveries:
  • Interurban - 2004/5(?) until 2009, as the livery for interurban services
  • Operation Overdrive - 2004 until 2007, often used on standard specification buses too.
  • Aquamarine and dark blue - 2 Arriva Scotland West coaches sometime in the late 2000s, later adopted as Arriva Trains Wales' livery, various standard liveries on the continent and the base of the later Sapphire livery.
  • Sapphire - 2013 until 2017
  • Low Carbon - 2013 until 2017
  • MAX - 2014 until 2017
  • Frequenta - 2015 until 2017
  • "Journey Mark" Premium/Sapphire - 2017 (with 2010s logo), 2017-current with new logo. Branded as Arriva Sapphire in the UK, Arriva Premium elsewhere.
  • "Journey Mark" Express - 2017-current. Used on Arriva Yorkshire 229 without Express branding, gradually being rolled out on the existing Arriva Express network on the continent.
  • "Journey Mark" Frequent - 2017-current. As yet unused, was planned to be used on the Arriva Yorkshire 189.
  • "Journey Mark" Hybrid - 2017-current.
  • "Journey Mark" Pride - 2018-current.

Liveries in italics are currently being phased out. I'm excluding local authority/partnership/localised brands as it would be too long to list.
