The timetable for the Halton Curve services between Chester and Liverpool Lime Street to srart on May 2019 has now been published. Interesting to note is that there are a few services to/from Wrexham General.
175005 undertook a training run between Chester and Ditton yesterday.

I think my knowledge of the Transport for Wales diagrams needs updating since they took over the Wales and Borders franchise.

From general observations the majority diagrams seem to be the same as before, although with the shortage of trains in the last few months due to more needing repairs, a lot of what has been seen may not have actually be diagrammed.

West Wales/Cardiff to Manchester and North Wales - seems to be mostly 175s still apart from the usual weekend diagrams that are 158s or 150s.
Valley Lines & Cardiff Local services - 150s and pacers. Unsure what is used on the city line at the moment? Was 2 pacers and a 153 for a while. Cardiff Bay was still a 153 last time I saw it.
Ebbw Vale/Maesteg/Cheltenham - mix of 150s, 158s and pacers. Seen 175s too. Not really sure to be honest seems to be a mixture of sets used.
Pembroke Dock - are all 3 of the main diagrams still 150s or is a 153 used on one of them still? On a Saturday one diagram was a pacer, unsure if that's still the case?
Heart of Wales and Shrewsbury/Crewe local service - mostly 153s with the occasional 150.
Swanline - mixture of 150s, 153s and 175 during the week depending where the service is running to and from. 175s if going to/from Manchester/Chester. Pacers on a Saturday for some services.
Conwy Valley/Wrexham local service/Chester to Crewe - all 150s
North Wales Coast - mixture of 175s and 158s depending on whether going to/from Cardiff, Manchester or Birmingham.

I have noticed that the 0705 Milford Haven to Cardiff service is no longer a through service to Manchester. It now waits in Swansea until 0911 and takes up the Swanline stopping service terminating in Cardiff. The 0855 service from Swansea-Cardiff has effectively been withdrawn and the Manchester service this would form now starts in Cardiff at 10.05. Im guessing the reason for this is lack of rolling stock to run the 0911 Swanline. The set which used to run this is now stuck in Swansea for the Fishguard boat train which now runs earlier than before (11am departure from Swansea). My question is where does the set come from to run the 10.05 Cardiff to Manchester, and where does the 07.05 from Milford go when it terminates in Cardiff?

There have been a lot of temporary alterations during the extreme shortage period. The 0855 Swansea to Cardiff is only a STP arrangement and not shown altered next week.

I think the 07.05 from Milford Haven goes off to Canton sidings until it reappears an hour or so later and goes off to Holyhead. It arrives from Milford as 1B13 and goes ECS as 5B13 to Canton then comes back onto the same platform , 2 , as ECS 5W93 before going to Holyhead as 1W93.

If I have understood it correctly.

Unit forming the 1005 Manchester comes into to Cardiff off the 0425 ex Holyhead which goes onto Canton.

that makes sense as the Holyhead-Cardiff have around a 2 hour turnaround time in Cardiff on the normal timetable.

It might only be an STP arrangement but it's been that way for months now.

Good morning. I thought the Cardiff and Valley local lines were worked by Pacers and Class 150's. Next Wednesday (23rd) I'm heading to Cardiff Central (11:56 GWR service from Didcot Parkway and the 17:26 back). From Cardiff Central its the 14:16 to Dingle Road and the 15:04 back.

I wasn't sure which rail station in Wales other than Cardiff to visit but seen as I watch Emmerdale, I thought Dingle Road was the one to see. Also the trains are every 15 minutes and the journey each way is only 10 minutes - handy in the cold weather.

I'm keen to get a Pacer and Class 150 whileiI can (153 if the opportunity is there as only once each in March and October in 2017 I caught a 153 (EMT in March and then London Midland in October) !

The majority of Cardiff local routes are pacers or 150. 153 on city line and Cardiff Bay. Might be worth going to Cardiff Bay if want to see a 153. I'm not sure what the current 153 diagrams are otherwise. I think 4 are needed for Heart of Wales/Crewe local and 1 on Pembroke Dock. Also one was used to strengthen Ebbw Vale services at some point.

Ok, 153 diagrams as of today. All subject to change of course (CF503 is a 142 today and the 1232 Holyhead - Maesteg is a 175 not a 158 so it will be hard to attach a 153 to it!) but that's what the diagram numbers suggest things should be anyway

A list of the abbreviations is appreciated and, although I can identify myself, can be help to others who may not be sure. Some people make their own up especially on Twitter.
I just had look at 1232 Holyhead to Maesteg on the off chance it might have been a 3 Car, but no, just 2 so potential overcrowding after all. The 0714 CDF to SWA should be 2 so that one missing brings about 0855 ex SWA to NWP problem and some Ebbw Vale strengthening lost in the evening peak due preference to 1232 HHD MST

Thanks for confirming 153 diagrams. I hadn't realised the evening maesteg had changed from a 3 car 175 to a 158/153

The 0855 service from Swansea-Cardiff has effectively been withdrawn and the Manchester service this would form now starts in Cardiff at 10.05. My question is where does the set come from to run the 10.05 Cardiff to Manchester, and where does the 07.05 from Milford go when it terminates in Cardiff?

The 0855 Swansea to Cardiff has reverted to norm this week. the STP alterations had already been issued so Journey Check has had to cancel them off and show the booked versions as additionals.
