G'day all. It's been for the most part a mild lead up to Christmas so what better time than to go out with the camera.
We begin down at North Williamstown as EDI refurb Comeng 535M-1118T-536M runs the weekend Williamstown shuttle.
Back in the City a 6 car Siemens train runs over the "new" viaduct with a train for Flemington Racecourse.
Comeng 613M-1157T-614M is the trailing unit as it leaves Flinders Street with a Frankston Line to Moorabbin.
X'trapolis 968M-1684T-967T-970T-1685T-969T is as fresh out of the factory as you can get. Here it's arriving on a Flinders Street bound Burnley Group train.
This train is first two units of the XT18 order of X'trapolis trains, the 9th and final batch of X'trapolis 100 trains to be built. Since 2002 204 3 car units have been built in batches of:
Original (ORG)
Interim Rolling Stock (IRS)
Optional Interim Rolling Stock (OIRS)
Further Interim Rolling Stock (FIRS)
Extra Interim Rolling Stock(EIRS)
Next Interim Rolling Stock (NIRS)
XT16
XT17.
A 6 car up Glen Waverley rounds the curve in the former Jolimont Railyard with the MCG in the background.
Now very much a fading sight is a Comeng without the full life extension mods. Here one is the west end unit on a Cranbourne train.
It's a Saturday afternoon and yet despite the consistant timetable throughout the day occasionally you get a few trains in the same spot at once. The far left sees an X'trapolis with an up Burnley group train, in the middle a Comeng with Frankston line train and on the right a 6 car Vlocity arriving into Flinders Street.
On Collins Street outside Southern Cross Station is E2.6078 powering up the bridge ramp with a route 11 to Victoria Harbour.
It's not totally uncommon to see an A class on the 109, but when the C class trams break down or get crashed into the As will be called upon to provide a service. A2.259 passes classmate A2.289.
Later on in the early evening sees N459 shunt into the Bank Sidings after competing a run.
Coming out of Platform 8 at Southern Cross is Vlocity unit 71 and another unit with a service to Waurn Ponds.
The driver of yard shunter is getting plenty of assistance with 3 shunters giving the "Come Towards" hand signal as a 6 car H set into the platforms at Southern Cross to form the Shepperton train.
E.6026 powers down Latrobe Street with a Bundoora RMIT bound 86.
VLocity unit 4 and another unit depart Southern Cross with a train for Waurn Ponds.
A 6 car VLocity with the Wendouree train passes by the railmotor yard.
A1.249 runs over the Latrobe Street bridge with a route 30 to St Vincents Plaza.
Sprinter 7021 and another classmate arrive into Southern Cross with a train from Seymour
VLocity unit 53 gets the low speed caution into the platform.
E2.60509 on Latrobe Street with a Bundoora RMIT bound 86.
W8.1010 on the Latrobe Street Bridge with an outer City Circle.
Steamrail's T395 and S313 depart Southern Cross with the Dreamscape Tours charter train. Dreamscape for a few years now have charted a train over a few weekends to act as Christmas party train for companies.
Not too long later the overnight XPT to Sydney departs right on time with power car XP2013 leaving. The XPT fleet is on borrowed time with thier replacements coming soon.
We head into the night in Collins Street with C.3008 with route 109d to Kew tram depot and C.3004 with route 48 to Victoria Harbour.
On Elizabeth Street D2.5019 is about to enter into the Flinders Street tram terminus with a route 19.
On Swanston Street we see 3 D1 class trams on route 6 and 16.
B2.2026 pulls into the Swanston Street/Collins Street stop with a route 3 to East Malvern while Z3.150 arrives with a Moreland bound route 6
B2.2026 waits for the lights to change.
B2.2073 passes by the Arts Centre with the massive Merry Christmas sign on the outside.
The sign does flash though various patterns.
A Siemens train departs Flinders Street with a Sandringham train.
An XTrapolis arrives into Flinders Street on the Clifton Hill group line while on Batman Avenue a B2 tram on the 70 gets the traffic light to turn.
An overview of the various tracks that carry the Burnley group and Caulfield group trains.
A Comeng departs Flinders Street with a Pakenham train.
An XTrapolis arrive into Flinders Street.
Finally XTrapolis 104M trails a Frankston Train.
