The 760mm gauge electrified line south from St Polten has returned to normal service earlier this week after a few weeks of partial closure for ungrading the mountain section of the line. During this period of closure all the power was off and all trains diesel worked. The following gallery contains pictures of all the locos present on the line except 2095009 which out working a train. These were taken during a visit to the depot at St Polten which is on the main line from Vienna to Linz and Salzburg.

This is a lovely line and well worth a visit, I did it a few years ago. On top of that, you get haulage out of some locos which are over 100 years old.

Top line, an absolute must to visit on any Austrian trip. If you get the chance, go on one of the trips using Mh6, only comes out a few times each year but well worth a ride to Mariazell behind.

Thanks. It is only 760mm gauge, but pretty powerful, it has to be to get up the gradients on the southern part of that line.

Here it is in comparison to one of the lines diesels.
