Looking at a Glasgow to London Sunday journey in a few months time.
LNER via Edinburgh very reasonable and available well into the Summer.
Avanti (preferable due to the shorter journey on this occasion) not even available as far as next few weekends to give an idea of prices.
How cheap (or not I suspect) are their Sunday advances generally?

I'm really puzzled by this too.
I've been checking for a few weeks but still can't see any advance tickets for the next few Sundays.
AWC's webchat agent assured me they're yet to be released, but even for this Sunday I can't see any.

Strange. I can see some in the other direction on Sunday, e.g. 1508 leaving London Euston, changing at Carlisle, £86.20.

It seems a regular occurrence on Sundays I tried Preston to Glasgow it was cheaper via York on 23/5 on a morning departure so booked it but now looks useless due to the Scotrail dispute.

Avanti don't have the first clue regarding advances. They claimed to me they'd advances for in a few weeks would be available in a few days but they're not. Shameful.

Exact dates withdrawn for confidentiality but some misinformation has gone around clearly!

I know there's bus replacements between Carlisle & Glasgow/Edinburgh for the next few weekends, I was looking for Avanti advances between Crewe & Inverness for next Sunday and nothing came up, so I've gone for a Manchester to Inverness with TPE & Connections changing at Carlisle onto the rail replacements.

You should be permitted to travel via an alternative route though if you arrive on the day.

I have a similar query:
London Euston to Glasgow on the 14th August. When are they likely to come available and what will be the cheapest fare?

That's over 13 weeks away, and a Saturday to boot. Before we were (sometimes) seeing availability out at 12 weeks, as was required. At the moment it's highly variable and probably only between 2 and 6 weeks ahead, depending on what route you look at, and whether one or multiple TOCs are involved (with a few exceptions such as LNER, and depending whether you are travelling on a weekday or not). It is getting better, but booking horizons are unlikely to return to 12 weeks until next year.

Currently Avanti seems to be booking on weekdays up to about 15 July. Weekends are a different matter though, and are only available up to mid June (I think). So that would suggest you are going to need to wait between 4 and 8 weeks (depending on whether horizons are improved) until you can book for Saturday 14th August.

Basically you will need to keep watching.

The price should be under £50.

Of course, you could book the Caledonian Sleeper on the night of Friday 13th August. It allows bookings up to 12 months ahead, and has pretty much maintained that through the pandemic.

Ok, thanks. This sounds a bit better than I thought. I was half expecting there to be no advance tickets at all available, or only avaliable a few days before and then with very limited discount compared to the normal off-peak single, which when I last checked was £108.50.

Maybe the free ticket alert at train line can help https://www.thetrainline.com/ticketalert
