project description

Relocate a redundant coach onto track laid for the purpose at Aysgarth Station to act as a ‘classroom’ for visits by schools, and as a refreshment / rest location for visitors on the regular open days. It would also be available to community groups in the area as a meeting venue.

project objectives

• Classroom for education purposes.
• Refreshment / rest area for visitors to Heritage Open Days.
• Meeting venue for local community groups.

It would enable a full educational programme to be offered to schools, exploiting the interest that there is in Victorian Heritage. Visitors to the Open Days would benefit from the improved facilities. The local community would see further evidence of the importance of the station site.

Thanks for the votes and messages of support. It doesn't look as if the Project will get the funding though we won't formally know until next Monday. In the meantime, the band of volunteers presses on. The 2015 Open Days at Aysgarth Station are:
