For the last 2 weeks or so LNER have been posting on Train Times the unit numbers every day on their services. Not sure if all 30 of this class are in service yet, i have been checking most days on the unit numbers departing Kings Cross. The following have not been logged 801/201,210,212,218,228. Is this because they are in store because the full complement are not required as class 91 are still been used ?

Had they all previously been accepted for service? A quick youtube search suggests 801210 and 212 were still at Newton Aycliffe a couple of weeks ago. 218 and 228 look like relatively recent deliveries, and 210 is shown recently. 208 and 201 were recently seen on test runs.

They aren’t in service yet. They’re typically coming through at one or two per month so I expect they’ll all be in service by the end of October. 206/208/225/226/230 are the latest releases.

Maybe there's an obvious answer to this question, but how have the majority of the IC225s been stood down if the Class 801s are not fully in service yet?

https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/lner-class-91-mk4-service-status-withdrawals.182066/ is the place to find out. It appears there are 12 91s still in service but now only one daily working north of York so the majority of IC225s have been stood down. Isn't the point that the IC225 fleet was effectively replaced one for one by 9-car 801s but there are also the 5-car 801s available so if there are number of 801s still to enter service that means slightly fewer IC225s are required.

201 is out and about, the rest have not entered service as yet.

I can confirm that; I had 801 201 for haulage during last week.

Ignore that - I was looking at my photo hit list, not my haulage hit list...

I expect in terms of fleet numbers (D365‘s point above) aren’t there also more 800s already in service than they originally had HSTs? Didn’t they originally prioritise 800s because they could replace both HSTs and 225 sets?

Yes, but they are running trains to Lincoln and Harrogate which takes up some of the additional fleet size.

Although full length Newark trains have been replaced by short trains to Lincoln, the diagramming is a bit less efficient.

801201 is at Bounds Green after a lengthy spell at Eastleigh getting the set to lner standard, this is not yet accepted by lner.

801210 has today been accepted by lner so expect in service soon.

801212 started it's commissioning runs on mainline last night, currently operating out of Hitachi Merchant Park, Newton Aycliffe.

801218 and 801228 have been accepted by lner and are currently stored at Tyne Yard, and both are yet to work services.

All the 5 car Class 800s and 801s are long since accepted and out of the 13 9 car Class 800 just accident-damaged 800109 is not in service. With a still reduced service hence why some 9 car Class 801s in store. During the early lockdown days most 5 cars were stored and 9 car ones were used so to increase social distance capacity. Not sure if any 5 cars are still stored?

'212 zooming up and down the ECML today on, I assume mileage accumulation between Newcastle and Doncaster.

The unit has already done that and had been accepted by Lner.
It has had some mods done at Aycliffe, so pressume checking that all is well.

One extra unit, as they pass between Lincoln and Newark. There's a layover of nearly 90 minutes at Lincoln
