Hi Andrew. I appreciate it is over a month since you offered your 20 year bound run of The Railway Magazine, but are they still available, and if so, whereabouts are you situated?

I had about 15-20 years worth but nobody wanted them so I chucked them in the tip.

Did these find a home?
Hi BenBru. Andrew D Webb never did respond to my message dated 8th October 2017,
so I presume they have either moved on or have been disposed of otherwise. However,
I have over 500 back issues of the Railway Magazine (plus over 2,500 issues of other
railway related magazines plus nearly 300 books) looking for a new home if you are interested.

I am looking for copies of RM from the 60's and 80's, as well as Modern Railways from the 60's, 70's and 80's if you have any.

Hi. Depending on your exact requirements I would think I would have some / most / all of the copies you are looking for.

I am not sure of Rail UK Forums policy about "selling" via the forum, and if indeed personal e-mail addresses and phone
numbers are permissible. Any thoughts ?

Regards
Malcolm

I have copies of Modern Railways from mid 70's to a few years ago. Happy to pass them onto you, or anyone else, who would like to take them.

I recently donated a large number of old magazines at Embsay - mainly Traction starting from the first edition. I would recommend the shop on Embsay station for anyone looking to buy old magazines - they have plenty of stock!

I know the location well ...But the stock tends to be very much towards the Rail ,Steam Railway end...Except when I drop off some Backtrack/Steam Days tends more towards news end...Won't mention price they charge for them except to say that for normal price of new mags you will get 30 or so to read!
Sad to say the separate bookshop has gone downhill in recent years.

Can you give more details of the books TD?

It's a sad fact that copies of almost all transport magazines published in the last fifty years have almost no monetary value, even ones produced by 'enthusiast' organisations that didn't go on sale in W H Smith, whereas (some) maps, for instance, do have monetary worth, even though they may have been free in the first place! Timetables too are usually worth something. Books are more problematic (and I've been in the book trade for over 30 years): old annuals/yearbooks/fleetlists aren't even wanted by the charity shops and, generally speaking, an old transport book is worth considerably less than the cover price, but others retain their value and a relative few can command quite high prices, usually as a result of a limited print run, usually by a smaller or more specialist publisher like Capital Transport.

If you are an RM subscriber, you can pay an additional fee and that gives you access to the entire RM archive, going back to 1897.
