Hello!

I'm so sorry to invade your forum - I'm not a rail enthusiast but a very very anxious traveller.

I'm going on my first train in a long time on the 3rd of November at 1.54PM, a CrossCountry service from Banbury to Oxford. My reserved seat is Carriage L, seat 37A but looking online at train layouts I can't see a CrossCountry Carriage L and when I asked them themselves they basically said 'we don't know'.

Can anyone point me towards what carriage layout I'll be in, so I can mentally visualise where my seat will be? Thank you so much, and I'm sorry again for bothering you. Have a lovely day.

Welcome.

It will be running as a pair of units, Five car XC voyagers are normally carriages ABCDF. If they double up the second unit takes letters GHIJL. (Four car units drop a letter, but the end cars are still the same.)
But either unit can lead, and each can be either way round. So “L“ can be at the front or back, or in the middle.

You must have called someone new, this has been done ever since the trains entered service...

Thank you so much for the thorough answer, I really apreciate it. So is L an 'F' carriage in terms of seat layout/tables/luggage storage etc? Thank you again.

If they asked what the formation will be then of course they won't know....

Yes... L & F are identical.

Thank you so much! Thank you all tremendously for your assistance, and I'm sorry once again for bothering you all with my silliness! I'm just not a very good traveller and need all the details before I travel. Have a wonderful day!

Welcome to the forum :)

There is no way to know in advance which way round the coaches will be, but you are near the end of the coach.

Some booking sites allow you to select a seat; as you can see from the attached image (from Trainsplit.com), you are so far one of only three people reserved in that coach.

By the way, this forum welcomes everyone. There is absolutely no requirement to be an enthusiast! Many people are on this forum because the work in, or seek to find work in, the rail industry; others are interested in travelling (but not necessarily interested in trains), obtaining fare advice, and much more.

There are other forums which are specifically designed to appeal to train enthusiasts (notably http://wnxxforum.com ) and this forum was never set up with any intention to rival those sites.
