Barry Doe's article in RAIL magazine number 742 page 36
There are two tables
Return fares for a 100 mile (each way) journey - January 2014
This table lists fares for journeys without saying what journeys they are
I have so far looked at East Midlands Trains Leicester to London (which is 99 miles) and the fares are similar to those quoted although BD seems to have rounded them up which seems strange
First Anytime Return £189 (BD £190)
First Off-Peak Return £123 (BD £125)
Standard Anytime Return £149 (BD £150)
Standard Off-Peak Return £83.50 (BD £85)
Standard Super Off-Peak Return £58.00 (BD £60)
Standard Off-Peak Day Return n/a
can any of you recognise any of the other fares?
The second table shows cumulative percentage increases in a variety of fares for each TOC since 1995
The basis of calculation is not given so its difficult to know how seriously to take this
