June 10th/11th sees the annual Festival of Transport at Barry. Apart from the normal displays of heritage road vehicles etc, this year should see a "first" with 73133 and 20228 making their debuts. Both locos, and D9521, are close to the end of overhauls and are pencilled in for running. The 73 has already moved under its own power, the 20 was running last Saturday and the 14 finally goes back together this Saturday. (Hopefully.)

The GatEx will also be running at the festival, albeit in a "mini mode". The 108, 117 (and maybe even the 115 set) of the Barry Railcar project will also be in attendance.

(Oh, and there will be steam hauled services too with an Austerity and a GWR Pannier - 6430)

All very much subject to how much work a very small band of very busy people can get finished in time. Updates and loco rosters to follow.

The HMRI have approved three train operation this year, so there will be "more movements for your money"! We're only small but we like to think we are a friendly line, with some interesting traction. If you feel like helping us at all and spending some time at the seaside, don't forget our New Volunteers Day on May 27th.

Thanks.

6430 has now been replaced by 5764 from the SVR. Austerity "Pamela" will also be running.

D9521, 20228 and 73133 have all entered traffic and are rostered for use. The 14 and the 73 are fresh from overhaul and are newly painted, The 20 is in ex-CFD condition. This engine is worth coming to see! It's still in CFD orange and sounds excellent.

D9521 is rostered for use on the Mk1 rake.

73133 is at the moment, rostered for brake van rides until we can receive clarification from NR as to its Route Availability. (This is due to the causeway viaduct being limited to RA5 and a question mark existing as to whether the loco meets RA5 or RA6. More news when it happens)

20228 is hopefully going to be rostered for use on the shortened GatEx set providing extension air brake pipes can be sourced or manufactured in time. If we cannot get the pipes, the 20 is going to run on a demonstration freight.

The class 108 and 117 DMU are rostered for service with the rarely seen 115 set making a number of runs early each day with limited passenger capacity.

Timetables and loco rosters are still in preparation - see our Yahoo group for up to date gen.

Still a few things to sort out this week but hopefully things will get sorted. All subject to availability of course. If you are coming along, bring your sunblock - today was a scorcher at Barry Island!
