Any help with this appreciated please.
Two adults travelling together this Saturday with Network Railcard. Frequent travellers from Basingstoke to Norbiton via Clapham but this Saturday want to go into London first (probably via Victoria, maybe via Waterloo and possibly some underground travel as well). Leaving Basingstoke 10.00 and aiming to be at Norbiton for 14.30. Leaving Norbiton 18.00. Buying tickets on the day.
Didn't want to fall foul of any "break of journey prohibited" rules. Is it simpler just to buy the day returns from Basingstoke to Norbiton and pay for extra journeys separately? If going to Victoria would it be necessary to leave Clapham station, buy the apppropriate ticket and re-enter? Would the barrier at Clapham let you out? If going to Waterloo, would the same apply even though one is on a Waterloo-bound train from Basingstoke - albeit with a ticket valid only as far as Clapham?
Thanks
