Hi all, I've just come across this article on BBC news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33945894

Now I'm not interested in the main story (i.e. alcohol ban on trains) but I am interested in the photo - a GC liveried class 67!

Now I know BBC are prone to using library images; I've lost count of the number of stories about FGW in the south west with photos of third rail from clapham junction - but this photo seems genuine.

Do GC really have skips; if so does anyone have the diagrams?

    Cheers
    HB

Sorry they only have HSTs and Class 180s, the only loco hauled they did was when they were carrying out route learning when they first started out and that was a non passenger service.

The photo in question is just a photoshopped one that was provided.

I agree Adobe Photoshop (or similar) was probably used for the image. Someone has done a good job with it, looks very professional.

I'm not aware of GC ever using 67s, though it is possible it may have happened at some point, and if so they would have not been in GC livery.

Also the station depicted looks like a West Coast station to me, not a station served by GC.

By the way in case anyone missed it and is interested, there's also a thread for the additional trains that ran today.

Is this any different from the status quo? Booze is already banned on routes out of Middlesbrough.

As discussed in many threads previously there is an alcohol ban on the trains to Sunderland/Middlesbrough. However I don't think there is currently a ban on morning trains, so that is new. Though as mentioned a few weeks ago, there are proposals to introduce such a ban.

Going back on to the matter of the photograph, the coaches look like Mk2 coaches to me.

    True, that's another giveaway.

Originally they wanted to use 67s with Mk3 rakes but couldn't get approval for them so they went with HSTs.

They used 67s when they first started to run through to Kings Cross - I think I had a 67 on EWS mk2 coaches back in 2008 from York to Kings Cross.

Yep. Crewe platform 12. The 'source' was probably one of Arriva Trains Wales's sets.

There is also a render of the GC livery on a 222 somewhere (from before MML picked up the remainder of their order).
