We often have people banging on about 'freedom of speech' (normally used as an excuse to hurl insults).

One contributer to a forum took a dim view of being insulted, and sued for libel - winning his cases and 5 figure sums:

To quote:

"Legal experts said the case should be taken as a warning to the millions of people in the UK debating contentious issues on message boards, in chatrooms and on their own blogs that the laws of libel applied just as they would if the comments were published in a leaflet or newsletter."

Not really. Would you like to live in a country where the Government can decide what people can or can't think? Read Nineteen Eighty-Four.
