It is with great tradgedy to announce that Beamish Open Aire museum was unfortunetly involved in the fatal accident of a 7 year old boy on 22 July 2012.
The accident involved 7 year old Karl Doren who fell from a steam roller in the museum, as soon as the tragic accident occured the museum was evacuated and remained closed for the rest of the day, Beamish reopened the following day, understandably steam traction has temporarily been banned from the museums roads while investigations are underway.
My thoughts go out to the family, friends, museum staff and any one else involved, hopefully the investigation can prevent a accident like this from happening again.
