What is the beat site(s) for a Canadian to purchase Advance tickets using a Canadian Dollar Debit or Credit Card? Person will use GWR, Avanti West Coast and the East Coast Mainline.

I would assume any TOC website.

I had no issues using my UK card to buy Irish Rail (.ie) tickets in Euros last year, if it's any relevance.

As long as the card has an internationally recognized symbol such as Visa or MasterCard there should be no problems. Domestic card brands such as Interac, Acculink, or Exchange are no good.

Avoid trainline and other sites that charge fees.

Many thanks for your responses. Britrail might well offer flexibility but that comes at a high price v buying advance tickets.

Which TOC booking sites, if any, are currently offering "admin fee free" exchanges for advance tickets, this should the OP's travel plans change, which can be quite a useful feature if still available?

And does travel have to be on the same TOC's own services to be able to avail oneself of this feature?

All TOCs are offering this at present.

Well, that is good to know. I think that Cross Country do not charge the £10 admin fee in normal times when the customer changes plans.

I think most retailers are offering "book with confidence". We certainly are. It allows you to change your advances up to 6pm the day before travel for no fee. You don't need to book the new journey immediately - it can be any time in the next twelve months.

I wasn’t sure about third party retailers so apologies for not giving a better answer.

Many thanks for the above help. ‘StickyNicky’ - I am aware of your excellent site and love the way the operator(s) name ‘usually’ appears. (A pity it is not ‘always’). When people click ‘details’, I would also like to see the origin & destination of the train(s) listed as this can make a difference to the type of train you get.
