At some point in the next week to 10 days, I will be going to the NEC for Motorcycle Live (seeing as I've won a pair of tickets).

I'll not be taking the train though to Birmingham, as even splittling at Sheffield and Derby it will be roughly £45 per person, so my questions are .....

Which stations near the NEC have decent parking facilities, and how much will that be?

What's the price of the CDR from those stations to Birmingham International?

Coleshill pakway free parking (https://www.coleshillparkway.co.uk/ ) and the cost of train changing at Birmingham New Street is £6 return. Although there is also a bus service from Coleshill to Birmingham Internation ;)

CDR from Marston Green to Birmingham International is £1.80 with restriction code G1.
CDR from Hampton in Arden to Birmingham International is £1.80 with restriction code G1.

Cheers for the quick replies. £3.60 for 2 people for a short hop on the train is better than £5 for parking.

Is it really not worth £1.40 for the convenience of parking where you actually want to go?

you don't travel on London Midland much then!

I did that once, but missed the last LM train from International and had to get a cab to Marston Green!

It would cost more in petrol to go to Marston Green and buy a ticket than just park up at the NEC, that's the bottom line.

For me, saving £1.40 is definately worth it, considering I don't have that much money spare. And I doubt I'll miss the last train, seeing as the show finishes at 5pm (weekdays) or 6pm at weekends.

It depends where you're coming from. I assume you'll be coming off the M42? But yeah, Marston Green is where me and my brother go to. I can't see how NEC parking is less than £5

Additionally the EUS-BHM semi-fasts stop at Marston Green and Hampton-in-Ardon (iirc) so you're not stuck on the 2tph

Coleshill would be a really good option, the bus takes about 15 minutes, although it doesn't run on sundays. Number 777 fron the station forecourt, the opposite side to the car park.
Get off the m42 at hams hall (junction before the nec) and the station is less than 5 minutes drive...much more accessible than marston green or hampton.

Not entirely sure if you're entitled to free parking if you don't travel by train, although you no longer require a permit so you'll probably be ok

I think birmingham international rail station parking is cheaper at the weekend, however it's a fair walk (at least 10 mins, depending on which hall) from the station, whether you get there by car, bus or train!

Bear in mind that if it is a weekday both Marston Green and Hampton in Arden are swines for parking spot availability with both regularly being reported full prior to 8am

I always park at International station if I'm going to the NEC. £5 after 10am on weekdays and £5 all day on weekends. The walk isn't too far, as muug1982 says, it's about 10 mins to the main halls, but 15+mins to the ones that are furthest away. It's reached via an indoor carpeted walkway, and if you have to go to the halls that are furthest away from the station, there are travelators for the last 5 minutes of the walk.

Me and my dad used to park near Stechford station for free when Central trains did deals for train/NEC tickets, but I wouldn't recommend there as you're not local and the station can be rather dodgy of a night time, or even day time! :p

If you're coming from somewhere north of Sheffield, then don't forget to factor both fuel and vehicle maintenance/depreciation into your decision.

I'm sure if you search there will be a decent apex available, surely?

Well, if the OP can find an apex then he may as well just use his TARDIS to get to the NEC! :p;):D
