How many of you share a birthday of a loco or unit that has run on Britain's railways.

As an example, my birthday 06/03/69 could be either 06 369 or 60 369, neither of which have existed so far...

I was born on 12/11/77, so if there were 177 bubble cars built I might have a chance :D

Its always going to be difficult to share a birthday with a loco properly as you have to loose a digit. A lot more people could share their birthday with units. Their must be some one born on 17th March 2001 which would be 170301, for example.

Like flymo, providing that I use the American date method and drop the first 0, 6th April 1945 becomes (0) 40645.

This is a Fowler 2P 4-4-0 locomotive, built on 31st August 1931, then withdrawn on 31st October 1961 at the British Railways works at Inverurie, giving 30 years of service. I thank that it was always based at shed 67B (Hurlford)

06/04/95 with a bit of removing could become 60495 or 06495, but I don't know if either of them ever existed!

That makes me exactly 50 years older than you...see my earlier posting.

By doing it the American way of showing the date, as I and another poster did, you are in luck:D

40695 was a 4-4-0, Class 2P-B steam locomotive, built on 30/11/1932 and withdrawn on 31/3/1961, putting in nearly 30 years of service.

Unfortunately, no-one ever saw fit to build 170291 :( Don't know about 17291, but I don't think there is/would have been one. There's possibly a carriage or wagon or something somewhere numbered 17291, but I honestly don't care enough to go and find out!

Afraid there weren't enough Class 07s to fit, nor enough Class 70s so far. 07884 or 70884

My main thought when reading this thread is why is everyone so goddamn young these days? You're all younger than me and I'm still at university!

I'm 90-03-11, so no luck there no matter how you do it. Unless DBS decide to modify some of their electric locos, call it Class 90/3, and use at least eleven of them...

With Paul and Flymo, if I drop a "0" and use the American way, I can be
90748, which I think should be a War-Department 2-8-0 Austerity!!
I do feel old!!
Clank, clank.

With my birthday, for the english way of writing they need to increase 15 fold the number of a loco class that went out of production over 50 years ago. For the American way of writing it, however, it doesnt even exist.

The picture you're looking for is here, in the American way.
