    Hi all,

    Couple of questions.

Wondering what routes drivers based at Bishops Stortford drive?

Also where exactly is the depot there? Is it just some sidings? Do they start trains at the station and go up to Cambridge or down to Liverpool Street and then back up, just wondering how they work? Basically I don't have a clue, so quite interested to find out if anyone knows?

Also, do these drivers operate Stansted Express trains?

Finally, what's the top speed on the WAML, does it see much 100mph running?

    Thanks for any info.

I can guess most of those answers, but I could be totally wrong haha

My educated guess would be that I would imagine mostly WAML routes, to Cambridge, to Liverpool Street, yes to Stansted Express and the Stratford-Stortford stoppers. I wouldn't be surprised if some turns cover Hertford too.

100 MPH running, I don't think there is much of it, if any. I think its mostly 75mph.

As for the depot. There is a bunch of sidings just to the south. I think there's about three or so sidings and pretty sure they could take up to 12 cars. Never seen them fully filled though.

Haha! Thanks for coming back, that's what I was looking for, guess or not! Gives me a bit more of an idea anyway, don't really know much about the WAML being a regular on the GEML :)

    Mostly 90mph I think you'll find.

Route knowledge is Cambridge North to Liverpool St via Southbury, Clapton and Stratford. Hertford East branch and Stratford to Ilford Car Sheds. Traction is 317 and 379. They used to have Enfield Town and Chingford working but that was all transferred to London Overground along with 315 traction.

The depot messroom is on the station at Stortford, and if you care to visit at 03.00 you’ll find the sidings full of units then. They are the main depot for working Stansted Express, with some night work as the service operates for about 22 hours a day

    Bishops Stortford Depot cover:-
Cambridge North to Liverpool Street via both Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale, also via Stratford. But not Cambridge CS Liverpool Street to Ilford Depot. Hertford East Branch. Stansted Airport to Stansted North and South Jns
    Supposedly sign via South Tottenham
Mostly 75mph but some 90mph running available.
Sign Class 317s and Class 379s

Highest speeds are generally 85-90mph Audley End ish to Cambridge, and 80-85mph Tottenham Hale to Roydon.

Apologies for being pedantic but surely you go down to Cambridge and up to Liverpool Street. I recall that there is a cab ride video for at least part of this route on YouTube, may not be up to date though.
