Just been watching this very entertaining video:

I am curious about the second coach in the first train that we see. It looks like a Mk2 composite but the lettering on the side appears to be longer than just InterCity. Can anyone suggest what it might be? InterCity MotorRail perhaps?

Also, I notice that all the WR HST sets are still 2+7, when did they become 2+8?

Inter City Scotrail is another possibility. I think it was a fairly short lived branding before being shortened to simply Scotrail.

The first WR HSTs went from 2+7 to 2+8 by disbanding what had been cross country set 253048 and converting four TGS carriages into TS carriages in the late 1980s (42096-42099, 42342-42345). The remainder went to 2+8 using carriages released from East Coast electrification and some reorganisation of the WR fleet in 1991.

There were very few Mk2 CKs and they weren't built as such - my abc from 1989 suggests 5 Mk2c coaches downgraded from FK allocated to Inverness so InterCity ScotRail is a possibility - 7550/1/3/8/61 remained in 1989 converted from 13550/1/3/8/61.

I have the 1985 Combined and of those five vehicles, 13561 was the only one allocated to Craigentinny ( in 1985; the other four already showing Inverness ) and that would be more logical for a vehicle in a cross country rake. So I would suggest that it is 13561 in the video... either way the suffic "Scotrail" does seem to be the answer to the question.
